Assign specific bike to activity + Enable bike alarm during ride

Hello ! Is there a way to do the following on Edge 840 ?

1. Enable bike Alarm in the middle of a ride

Right now, if I stop for a coffee break, I cannot enable the alarm because I am in the middle of an activity. I would really like if I could enable the alarm (either from the device or from my phone) whenever I want.

2. Assign different bikes to different activities

My morning [COMMUTE] uses one bike while my [ROAD] rides adds mileage to another bike. My [MOUNTAIN] bike rides would be assigned to another bike and my [INDOORS] rides would be assigned to my track bike.

Yes, please, assign different bikes to different activity profiles by default. Assign Mountain Bike to mountain activity, Road bike to road activity... seems like a no brainer.

That request has come up many times, both in context of the 840, and just about every other Garmin device.

to 1:
if you mean the alarm, that triggers, when you move your bike/device, then you can arm it at any point from widget.
correct me if I'm wrong

Before "activity profiles" existed, individual bikes was how the unit worked. It even knew which sensors went with each bike, which could have been used to auto-select your bike (and may have been, I don't recall).

Yes, you can enable Bike Alarm in the middle of a ride. The key is that you must first Pause the ride by pressing the lower right button as if you were going to end the ride. Once the ride is manually Paused (red border around the screen) then press and hold the power button. It will come up with options including powering off the device or activating Bike Alarm.

If the Bike Alarm is activated, you have to enter your passcode to shut if off.

When ready to start your ride up again, simply press the lower right button like you do to begin a ride. This will un-pause your ride and you are back at it.
