Don*t know is this intendedo just a bug.
After you lost the track and it is recognized again after the VP restarts.
For me this does NOT make sense in most cases. If you just take the wrong turn, or you need to go around a closed road, you will just be a short time off.
So usually I would not like to restart the VP from the point when track is found again.
The usual feature should be just to stop the VP at its current position and restart from there after track has been found again.
