Transfer Totals from Edge 810 to Edge 840 / Edit totals.fit

Hello,

I have the quite comon Problem transferring the totals from my old Edge 810 to my new Edge 840. Tried to edit the totals.fit with a HEX File Editor but could only identify the names of the three bike profiles. I would be very thankful if somebody could edit the attached totals.fit for me.

For the profile “RENNRAD” there should be a total distance of 7458,02 km.
For the profile “Radon” there should be a total distance of 16717,72 km.
The third profile “Orbea” should remain unchanged.

I cannot understand why garmin removed the option of editing the totals for each profile in the newer edge models. With my Edge 810 this was very easy, but now the 810 has quite reached its lifetime end and becomes a little bugy.

Finally, after some more hours of studying the fit file structure in the HEX Editor I figured out how to read the single hex values and how to adjust them all each by each. But this is really a mess and Garmin should think about re-implementing this in the newer edge models as it was in the older ones.

Could you tell us what program and where the mileage values of a given bike are hidden?

Hi, in this PDF I documented the steps I did to adjust my totals.fit file for my Edge 840. Parts of the file are with German labels as I'm located in Germany.

I cannot guarantee that those steps will work for any other kind of edge computers and manipulating your files is of course on your own risk. Best regards, Sven

Is here someone who can fix Totals.fit file for edge 840?

I made backup from edge 830, but it is not loaded in 840 from some reason well, It starts from zero e.g. road profile (rides, score, achievements,....).and i got congrat. for today ride which was short but somehow edge does not know that I made much longer activities in the past.

I can share then both files when needed.
