Garmin segments not working correctly on my 840. (not Strava)

I have followed the 840 owner's manual and sync 4 segments to my Edge.
Only 1 works correctly while the 3 others segments never show up.

The segment that works appears while following a course ( I haven't tested without following a course)

The 3 others don't appear while following or not following a course.

Any idea on how to fix this problem ?

and downloaded to the unit? do You find them in the training->segment menu? (i am using Strava segments, so there is a Live Strava Segments menu under the Training)

Yes, I have the 4 of them in the unit. They are all enabled.

When I plug the Edge to the computer, there is a folder called segments with the four .fit files each corresponding to a different segment.
I also see there is folder named 'Segment_list' and there is a file 'segment_list.fit' inside.

FYI, all the four segments are up hill.

i suggest You share the course's link (set it to public) here, and your activitiy"s link too (if there is independent segments' link, share those too), and one of our community "spec" member will find the source of the problem for sure (without these data hard to guess out where is the problem)

So today I created a course. Then found a segment in the course ( up hill ). Transferred the course and the segment to my edge 840. I verified the setup in my edge to see if the segment was available in the unit. I verified that segment alerts on the riding profile. Then I Initiated the activity following the course
During the ride, the segment DID NOT show up.

The problem is persistent :

The segment needs to be marked as a favorite. How are you transferring the course? Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile?

It was marked as favorite before today's ride.
I believe I transferred this route and segment using Garmin Connect Mobile.

For the other 4 segments are not so sure but I guess I may have used my mobile from some and my phone for others.

Here is the list of my favorite segments uploaded and active on my 840.
(picture from Garmin connect but it is the same in my Edge)

Only one of the two underlined segments has worked so far. They are very similar so I can't tell you exactly which one has worked so far.

And the segments are active for the profiles I have tested.

I pushed the course from Garmin Connect using the send to deice feature. This then launched Garmin Express. The course correctly contained the segments.

I will try using GCM. Are you on iOS or Android?
