Loaded a course on my usual route today and noticed the climbpro did not trigger when i was climbing. when i stopped using navigation using my loaded route, the climbpro reappears as one of the pages. is this a bug?

I’ve ridden a few roads multiple times around home without a course since getting the 840 Solar and had climbpro show consistently at a few spots…
today I selected a course to navigate (the starting point was 8 miles from home) and climbpro did NOT show during the same spots it usually does on the way to my course start.
also, when prompted to navigate to the start, I tapped yes but it just threw some error (probably unrelated to climbpro activity but wanted to mention).
While riding my course I had climbpro pop in a few times as it also did while “free riding” once my course was done.
still odd that it didn’t seem to work while riding to the start of my course.
Climb Pro, when following a course, is dependent on the elevation data in the course. As an example, I've heard of numerous problems with the elevation data in courses created by Strava that prevents Climb Pro from working properly.
The Free Climb functionality is completely disabled while following a course.
yes freeclimb functionality is disabled during navigation or following a course (or what garmin calls is tethered). what im pointing out is the actual climbpro page itself does not appear during the tethered climb.
also tried mapping the course again and load to my unit. no climbs were showing in the newly created course. Thinking this might be the issue. Weird because i set up climbpro in my unit to detect all climbs and mode is set to always.
Are you creating the "courses" in Garmin Connect or some other software? It's very dependent on good elevation data in the course.
As for disabling Free Cilmb while navigating. That makes total sense, assuming there is good elevation data. Free climb is having to guess your route, but you've already told it your route as part of the course, so should do much better than Free Climb. Again assuming good elevation data. But just like it's trusting the route you've given it, it's also trusting the elevation you've given it is accurate. Apparently that's a bad assumption.
update: I meant to say where you do create courses, not climbs.
yeah using garmin connect for my routes. experiencing no problem with the climbpro freeclimbs. just with the climbpro tethered climbs (using a pre-loaded course)
If you are repeating routes with climbs delete the course created with Connect and create it again from one of your recorded rides. Hopefully the elevation data recorded during a ride will be better than what is available in the Connect route planner and will trigger Climb Pro.
