I have a 1040 and 840. Both gives me “ route calculation error” all maps up to date. Any ideas?

On the same route or different, on every route or just some, on a loaded course route or navigate to location, where are the routes created, how loaded to 840/1040?

• None of these are loaded routes. Both Garmin’s do the following I can go in the main screen hit navigation and go in the search lotta categories convenience, stores Starbucks, so I select any one of those. It loads 65% then I get error.  if I go on the navigation and say backtrack back to start same thing happens I even put a location on my home went out for a ride went to navigation save location, home …same thing . These are new units only had them for three days like I said before all the maps are updated with the current release. Thank you

Try reinstalling the map of your region on the Edge:

1. Launch Garmin Express.
2. Select the Edge 840
3. Select Map Details
4. Select Map Options
5. Select Reinstall Map.

I'm considering a 1040 or 840 after the trainwreck of an Edge Explore 2. I had the exact same experience as you today. I loaded a Strava route. Route calculation error. Tried 6 more times.with various reboots of devices. I was at an event and could not navigate without prompts. I started a similar route, same calculation error. Bailed on all.of that and just used search to find a local business. Same errors. I suspect the recent updates have caused this. I've had 99 problems with my Edge, but navigating wasn't one until today.
