Di2 shifter buttons

When the hidden buttons quit working during the ride:

• Did you check if Di2 was still connected?
• If you had the gearing info as a data field, was it showing up?
• If you had the Di2 battery status as a data field, was that working?

The two Di2 buttons never worked during the ride. After my ride I created a simple page showing the front derailleur, rear derailleur and battery level. I will check if the Di2 information will show up on my next ride.

I have only done one short ride so far with my 840 (non-solar) and I didn't experience any Di2 issue. In the past when I was having issue using the hidden buttons, it was with the 11-speed Di2 system and I had the D-fly adapter hidden in the seat tube of my 2019 Venge. The D-fly adapter experienced constant disconnect/reconnects until I moved the D-fly adapter to the inside of the handlebar.

Before and after the ride everything was working as expected, only during the ride the two buttons did not work. In the last 6 years I have been using the Wahoo Bolt v1 without any issues with Di2. But I have now created a Di2 page so next ride I will check this page if the FD and RD information is visible and changes on this page while shifting gears.

Ultegra R8000 and Garmin 840 (Non Solar) work as expected. Right single click next page and left single click previous page. 

Before my 2nd ride with the 840 Solar I added a page with Di2 information (R8000) AND I installed beta 9.21. Unsure about the cause of this issue, but yesterday the Di2 buttons worked as expected. 

Having recently upgraded from a 530 to the 840, shock to find that dfly buttons no longer works. The sensor constantly dropouts and even when connected in a stable workshop environment, the response is extremely laggy and often nothing at all. My 840 is running on latest firmware v9.29. Hoping this is just a software issue to be fixed, as the device is great in every other way compare to the 530, which worked perfectly with dfly.

I am also running latest firmware version and still having issues, but not allways.

As a work-around when I notice the buttons are not working shortly when I begin my trip: I use the shifter a few times to change the gear and wake-up the D-fly (do not know if neccessary). After that, during the ride I open the settings (swipe down) and goto the Sensor page. The Di2 should be listed here and when you click on it, you will get the option to press on 'Connect' (or something similar, do not know exactly). The Edge will try to find the Di2 and connect it. It worked so far as a workaround. Still waiting for a final solution.

I’m having the same issues. Poor connectivity between di2 and Garmin edge 840. Have you found a solution? I too am running software version 9.29

I agree the response time is quite terrible. Click the Di2 button takes about a full second or 2 before the 840 page turns, this long delay often tricks me into thinking I missed the button so I perform a second click. Do all Garmin models/firmwares have this loooong delay? Hope the 840 be fixed in firmware?
