What's the firmware version of 840 when you received it?

I received my Edge 840 yesterday, and it's currently running firmware version 7.19. I'm curious as to why this new model is jumping from version 7 to version 9 during its update process.

Or is it just me?

Just got mine yesterday too. I went through the setup process, including pairing with WIFI, it immediately downloaded an update, and I accepted it, so I didn't see what ver it had been.

I wouldn't read much into it (version numbers). They are adding new features, fixing bugs, and that's good.

sikan This is a good question, and we are glad you raised it here. We are unable to update devices once they have completed the manufacturing/packaging process, so there are times where brand new devices will be behind in software even though they are brand new. Connecting to Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express will pull down all available updates right away.
