Syncing routes while recording

Does anyone know whether the 840 is able to sync routes while recording an activity? The 830 wasn’t (unlike the 810).

  • The 840 is able to sync a course while actively recording an activity.

  • I gotta admit, that's a pretty cool upgrade.  Will this work for Strava Sync?  I've had to stop a couple of activities to sync a Strava route when we changed routes on the fly.

  • I just starred a new course (route) in Strava, then manually kicked off a sync in GCM and the 840 pulled down the route while recording an activity.

This appears to be possible with Strava routes as well, but I am unsure if the sync would immediately initiate on its own in the same way a course from GCM would.

  • That is bad-ass.  Before you would get a message about "Cannot sync routes while recording an activity.  Stop activity to sync." (or some such...always happened when on the bike)

  • im choosing between 840 and 1040, so 840 can sync during activity... 1040 can do it too?

  • Can anyone confirm that i can sync a new course from Komoot on my phone to the Edge 840 without stopping recording an activity, cause the German Live-Chat said there is no Option.

I would like to have the Option to change the course while recording with a course planned on phone on the fly. I dont want to have two or morgen GPS-Tracks cause of changing the course.

  • so I just bought a Garmin 840 Solar believing that syncing is possible and ... it doesn't seem so - at least not via komoot/garminconnect. The 840 is not able to sync with my iphone while it's recording an activity.

  • Before the newest update I was on a route for 5h. Due to bike issues i had to change the route. I tried several times to let it auto sync to komoot (for the new route) or manually push it to the device. With the original route still active and later stopped. Garmin connect was always open, running and connected.

Since strava raised their prices like crazy, strava is not more than social media.
