Route Calculation Error

Edge 830 Software Version 9.75

  • Reset to factory settings

  • Updated maps using Garmin Express (reinstalled)

  • Changed GPS settings

However, I still get a route calculation error when:

  1. I want to navigate to the starting point.

  2. I try to use navigation to an address.

  3. I go off-course while following a route.

What can I do? Could this be caused by a recent update?

  • You may try if turning OFF Popularity Routing solves your problem. Not knowing if the 830 has that option - I'm on an Explore 2.

  • Had Error Connection problems (and other issues) on my two Garmins after loading maps and I noticed on Garmin Express (map details) I had a TopoActive.Europe (east) 2025 10 - I live in Scotland.

Maybe my company VPN was on.

I was using my work laptop and as I work for a European company I suspect that the maps were routed assuming I lived in Poland.

I switched to my personal computer clicked change map and after a couple of hours downloading both my Garmin Explore 1000s were back up and running TopeActive Europe 2025 10.

It was as if there was minimal map data - searching for Glasgow gave no results in spite of the fact that I was 10 miles away.

This may help a few but not all.

  • You need the TopoActive Europe West map enabled for the UK.  Go into the map settings and enable it.
