firmware update to 9.80

i am using the connect app of teh phone to setup my edge 830.

The installed firmware version is 9.75 and I would like to use the music control features.

I have understood that in order to do use the musci controls, at least the 9.80 version need to be installed; is this correct?

I am not able to update the firmware version since the device states that the latest version is installed.

1. is it real that the 9.80 is the latest version

2. is it true that only with 9,80 can control the music on iphone

3. what do i have to do to be able to install the 9.80 version?

many thanks

  • Firmware version 9.80 is a bug fix update for the  Asian version of the 830 and 530 only and it is unlikely that extra functionality was added. The Asian versions had a different firmware numbering sequence from the international versions.

  • No "music control" for the x30 devices in any version

As you say x.75 was the last released production version almost 2 years ago.

There have been 2 x30 betas since,

x.79 ("A fix to address sensor dropout issues experienced by some customers"), beta testers said it did nothing  &

x.81 ("Fixed several stability and functionality issues" ???), issues were never revealed.

but neither version was ever released to production, no garmin explanation given. See the x30 beta forum

    https://forums.garmin.com/beta-program/edge-530-830-1030-series/

As @mcbit says x.80 was released for Asian 530 & 830 only, they had missed out on the x.75 release and I assume x.81 addressed this?

    BUT NO Music Control !

  • many thanks, now i have the confirmation of what i was suspecting
