Hi All,
Has anyone encountered similar issues with the Edge and a trainer? In this case, I'm using the Tacx Fluxx S.
The problem is with frequent disconnections between the bike computer and the trainer, as well as with the heart rate sensor during workouts. After reaching out to Garmin support, I was advised to install the beta version. After doing so, one ride went smoothly, but the issues have since returned. Garmin redirected me to their technical department, where I was informed they do not offer repairs but could replace my Edge with a new one Edge 840 for a fee, as the device is out of warranty (I’ve been using it for 3 years). I don't want to replace for new one, because my works fine for me, only except this trainer connection. Last two seasons everything was OK.
Below is the description I sent to Garmin, along with activity screenshots:
I installed the BETA version, and at first, it was almost fine—during training, the disconnections happened 2-3 times, but they only appeared on the screen + sound notification on the bike computer. However, there was no power drop on the trainer.
But yesterday, the disconnections occurred every few minutes (again, only on the screen + sound notification on the bike computer but no power drop on the trainer). At some point, when the resistance was higher, around 300W, the bike computer temporarily froze, and the trainer stopped responding to resistance changes from the bike computer.
Neither the pause/start nor turning the bike computer off/on helped. It was only after the workout ended, removing the trainer from the bike computer, and pairing it again that the bike computer started working, and the trainer responded to the signals from the bike computer. However, now the disconnections happen every few/ten seconds—still only on the bike computer, but there’s no noticeable effect on the trainer.
