My location won't automatically centralise.

I am new to Garmin and have an Edge 830. I would like to have my current location automatically centralise on a map whilst riding, but without following a route. Can this be done?

The rider position on the map is a fixed location. The map moves not the rider. It is designed to show more space ahead of the rider than behind if you have the map setting configure to direction of travel up instead of north up.
