is it possible to pause a garmin activity and continue somewhere else without garmin showing the distance in between the places when i finally stop the activity? we are having some transport with train between the bikepaths we are riding.

We are a group that will do a longer bikeride over a weekend, and we want that bikeride to be one continously recorded bikeride.

So we head out biking on friday to our first destination, where we take a trainride for 1 hour. there we will rest until saturday morning where we will continue for another 100km to our next destination, before we take the train again to where we will start on sunday.

So will this transport legs with train show on the map when i end the ride on sunday at final destination?

  • I don't think so; how should Garmin know? You just have to make two separate activities of that I guess.

  • The transit between stages will show as a straight line on the map but the distance, time and moving time won’t be included in the ride statistics. However, elapsed time from start to finish of the complete activity will be counted.

  • Following with interest as I have the same query. At the moment  I tend to cycle to the train station and then hit ‘pause’ on my Garmin watch once I'm on the train. When I arrive at my destination (meeting point with the cycling group), I press ‘play’ on my Garmin. I notice a straight line on the map, which is from the train ride and during that time, the watch doesn't capture my heart rate, calorie burn, or distance, right?

  • Of course: when you hit 'pause', the device will not register anything as it is...in pause.
