Remove Trailforks map

I jsut acquired a new, out-of-the-box 830 (USA). I know it's discontinued, but it was too good to pass up and my 500 was getting hard to push the buttons.

I  noticed the memory is over 75% used and when I put it on GE it updated the maps. OK. But I'll never use TrailForks so what files can I delete off the unit?

And even if I did want to use the installed Trailforks maps they are from 2019 - 5 years old - and I would never trust them....

Looking at the forum here, has nobody ever deleted this stuff? Some pretty vague answers like "try this and see what happens" - really?

TIA

  • The map files are the .img files in the \Garmin folder on the unit.  Copy them to somewhere on your computer.  Now delete one on the unit.  Go into the map settings and see if the trailforks map is still available.  If it isn't you have deleted it.  If it is copy the map file you deleted back and delete a different one.  Keep going until you have found the trailforks one.
