my edge 830 is now only showing about half the total ascent on a ride compared to someone else with an edge 830.

For the last 3 or 4 rides my total ascent has been way off compared to others on my ride, today it showed 617ft compared to one of the others on the ride with an edge 1030 showing 1568ft. We always used to get the same reading but the last 3 or 4 rides have been very different. Any ideas?

I've done a factory reset on mine which has worked for me. All your profiles are kept and can be reloaded so you don't have to set it all up again.

Ditto. This is a recurring concern. I've upgraded from 520+ that had the problem to an 830+ that had the problem, which Garmin replaced and that replacement is now showing the problem. Makes me crazy. Previously, I've tried every suggested remedy. This time I ran hot water into the tiny holes to wash out potential debris and gave it a blast from my air compressor. First ride with that attempted fix is today. We'll see how it goes, but this is a long running concern. Not sure what the problem is, but seems hardware related.
