Assigning different bikes (gear) to different activity profiles. MTB, Gravel, Road, etc.

I have an Edge 840 and would love to be able to assign different bikes to different activity profiles. MTB, Gravel, Road, etc. Is there any chance Garmin could add this?!

It can be handled just as Strava does it. You would choose each primary bike that you most often use for "Road" or "MTB" or "Gravel". If you happen to ride a different bike…

I agree with this approach. Strava has a default bike and shoe. Ridewithgps has a default bike. This would certainly work well for most.

Mine sensors are named by bike in the Sensors page on the 830. This thread started with assigning a particular bike to an activity profile.

I really cannot fathom what the developers are thinking. It's a fundamental thing, you have multiple bikes (gear) and when you select a profile the profile should map to the bike, why should you have to edit it afterwards in the activities list. I have 4 bikes, the odometer is basically useless as odometer needs to nap to the bike (gear) and selecting it at start is the only logical way to go.
