Segments Driving Me Crazy

I was very happy with my 830 when I got it a couple years ago.  At some point I hit 100 routes and 100 segments and started to have all sorts of trouble.  I then learned about the limits and deleted my way back down to 90ish of each, deleting and old one any time I add a new one.  However, the segments never work right on it now. It's taken me a year or so to realize what is going on...mostly because 90% of the time I'm not worried about segments. What I've figured out is if I'm just cycling without a route, or if I'm using a route I've had on the Garmin for over a year (presumably one of the first 100 ever) the segments work fine.  When I create a new route, or download a new route from an organized ride, the same segments don't show up.  I tested this theory last week.  I manually recreated a club route I've had on my device since I got it.   I rode part of it using the original route and the segment popped up.  I went back and rode that part again, this time with the new route.  No segment appeared.  I turned off the route, did it again, and the segment worked again.

I hate riding without a planned route, even if it's roads I ride all the time.   But I feel like I have to either pick using a route or having segments.  I've tried resetting the device to factory settings.  I've disconnected and reconnected my Garmin and Strava accounts.  Any ideas what could be wrong?

  • I have the same issue. I think the problem is that Strava Live Segment are not showing up while following a course. I hope this will get fixed because it is also driving me nuts..

  • Same freaky problem. i addet so much segments on Strava and listed it as my fav. Segments... Sometimes my Garmin shows Segments, sometimes my garmin do not show it when i am cycling...

i have no solution right now for this problem. a fix would be nice, but i think it will not come for the edge 830...
