Not able to import routes from RideWithGPS.

I used Garmin Connect to connect RideWithGPS to my edge 1040 and routes I pin in RWGPS sync with my Edge 1040 without using the Connect IQ app,.  It works great .   I set my wife’s edge 830 up the same way and routes won’t sync.  I’d rather not deal with the Connect IQ app.   Is there something with the 830 that makes the Connect IQ app necessary?  support.garmin.com/.../

    I have an 830, have never used the IQ app, and wireless syncing works fine. Are the pinned app showing in the Garmin Connect app?  If so can you manually push the route from GC to the 830?
