FTP data stopped updating after a replacement unit

Hi all

I had a faulty 830 in that the gradient was always wrong, so garmin sent me a new one in December.

I've just noticed that my FTP hasn't gone up or down for months, dating back to December actually. So I'm guessing it's linked to the update. Garmin sent me instructions on making my new device mimic my old one. I'm wondering if I missed a file/folder?

Performance notifications only list

Performance Condition

New VO2 Max

Training Effect

I can't see new FTP anywhere

Thanks

John

  • If autodetect new FTP is on it doesn't mean that your Garmin will keep detecting a new FTP all the time.  Mine very rarely thinks it needs to update my FTP.  Your FTP probably isn't changing much or you aren't doing the right sort of efforts to trigger the function.  Don't worry about it.  If you really want to check your FTP do a FTP test and manually update the number if necessary.

  • Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yes that's a possibility but I've been sitting on my backside or changing any of the other rides I used to do and just wondered about the coincidence of unit swap and lack of data.

I'll do a test as you say, see what happens

  • Hi, assuming the Edge 830 menu is similar to my Edge 530, the FTP auto-detect option is on a different screen than the Performance Notifications you listed. On the device menu it's My Stats > FTP > Enable Auto Calculation. Hope that helps, cheers

  • Hi Kyle

Yes it was on. I've fixed this now by deleting the device and adding them all again.

Rode tonight and now I have a FTP reading again after a 6minth gap Slight smile

So now I justbneed to ride harder lol
