EDGE 830 BATTERY LIFE

I'm curious about whether my 830 battery will last on a long ride where it might be running for 16 hours. I'll be using navigation, a HR monitor (no power or cadence), but I'll dim the screen. My guess is that I should be good for maybe 20 hours . . . I'm wanting to avoid jumping into the new 840, at least for now.

If you’re not certain of the run time, it would be advisable to carry a charging cable and small power bank. It’s cheap insurance and can be plugged in if or when needed without effect on the activity recording.

Yes, I'd done that years ago (with my Edge 1000), putting the power supply in a gas tank top tube bag. It's probably either that again, or the Edge 840 upgrade. Thanks for the reply . . .

I have not ridden that long, but the discharge rate seems to be <5% per hour so there is a good chance it will work.

I did about 13 hours with no nav and it was at 61% at the end.

I usually only charge my 830 a couple of times per week, typically ~10 hours runtime / 200+km of MTB/Gravel riding between charges , and it's generally around 50% at that stage. I have screen dimming at 15 sec, but not screen-off battery saver, and use GPS and HRM.

I think it should easily last 16 hours, but use battery saver if you want to be certain.
