Follow route while doing a training or interval.

Can you follow a route (navigate) during an training or interval on a Garmin Edge 830 or 1030. Now i have a bryton bike computer but i can't find a way to use both training mode and a route on the same time. So i'm searching another bike computer who can do both (navigating and doing an training or interval at the same time).

  • You can on the Edge. You just need to load the course first then the workout.

  • As mentioned how to make it work, works, but it has an issue with doing it which is why I stopped doing it after a couple of goes, it can be frustrating.

The issue is, you have to have a well coordinated route, time wise and distance wise  that works well with the workout. Otherwise, you can find a hard interval, like a sprint etc clashing with a fast downhill section of the course, or a very steep hill to climb were you cannot sprint for the desired time or a very twisty road were you cannot go fast or vice versa or a rest period on a steep uphill section. Or the hard interval could clash with a road junction, traffic light etc and you have to stop or slow down.

I found it best to just find a flat road with no junctions or hills etc or a circular route with long enough sections without junctions etc and just ride up and down it and do my workout on that and use the "Lap" button to start or stop each interval or rest period.
