Elevation issue with fw 9.73

I had never had problems with the altimetry, not even with the old firmwares but for some days my 830 has gone crazy.

The elevation values are random and I can't figure out what happened.

I also tried following another thread's instructions (I deleted some folders and forced a reboot) but that didn't work.

Any ideas?

  •  The most recent firmware update did not address altimeter performance, and should have caused no changes in behavior. I would suggest reaching out to your local support team to future investigate this report using this link.

Changes made from 9.50 to 9.73:

    • Fix Firstbeat stats resetting on power cycle
    • Add informational prompt when pairing a non-Garmin Radar sensor.
    • Add informational prompt to update RCT715 to get more features
    • Improved CIQ data fields so that copies of the same field don't limit adding unique fields
  • I too am having this same issue. I'm on version 9.73 as well. My elevation is over 2,000 feet off during a typical ride. It's not detecting nearly enough. I've followed instructions via Garmin to make sure the altimeter holes are clear, I've verified my preset GPS elevation in the Edge 830 is correct, I've also deleted the files as instructed by the above user. Any additional advice? This is terrible and really annoying when the data is this far off

  • There was a known hardware issue and Garmin sold me a new unit after I paid about 130€.
