Stages PM calibration issue

My L crank Stages PM is giving issues and not sure whether hardware or software related.

When I try to calibrate from my head unit I get a rather odd response. Instead of the usual few numbers, I get 0.0NM.

Is it just broken and needing replacement?

Running latest Stages software and Garmin software.

No response yet from Stages to support ticket

Is PM working well with StagesPower app? There is one for Android but I bet there is one for iOS too, if you need that.

Check readings in the app and calibrate inside it. If it works than it is your edge problem.

If that does not work then it is PM and you may try and reset it by removing battery for a few mins. Even better, you may put battery in reversed order to short-circuit PM electronics. Then try again, PM will work then hopefully.

Thank you for your response, but you didn’t clarify whether this 0.000NM response is a know issue or not. I have calibrated with the stages app and the response was “normal”, so this seems like a garmin edge issue.

I suggesting contacting Stages for assistance if the values you are seeing on your Edge do not match their app when calibrating. The Edge will not control what values it receives, so Stages should be able to explain the cause or provide troubleshooting if necessary.

One thing to remember is that the difference could by due to using different communication protocols and standards.

Stages is paired to the phone app over BLE, while it most likely that Stages is paired to the Edge over ANT.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I followed support advice and "aired" the unit with the battery removed for 48 hours and finally have decent calibration responses from Garmin head unit and the Stages. Hopefully this lasts.
