Elevation inaccuracy

Hi,

I am having massive inaccuracy in elevation gain numbers on my device. Do you know how to fix this issue?

  • Ignore the numbers?  That is all you can really do.

  • Have you calibrated the barometer by setting your elevation? Please try these steps linked HERE

There could also be a number of factors that can influence the barometric altimeter. We have an FAQ linked HERE that addresses some of these factors.

  • I think this is about elevation gain inaccuracy.

Last weekend i did a 80 km mountain trail ride with my Edge 830 and Epix 2. The elevation difference was within 5 m from top to bottom point witch is very accurate. Elevation gain was 782 m on Edge 830 and 1020 m on Epix 2. Edge 830 always register less elevatiom gain than my Epix 2 and also the fenix 6x I had before.

  • if you continue to experience elevation gain issues after calibrating the barometer and ensuring that the Barometer port on the back of the edge (the small hole on the back) is clear of debris, dirt, salt, and sweat, please contact your region's product support at support.garmin.com
