New Issue with routing - 5457 km remaining, navigation aborted

I plan my routes on Komoot, which is synced both directions with Garmin Connect. Via Garmin Connect I send route to Edge 830 - as I always did.

Since a couple of days I have strange problem on my Garmin Edge. On my Edge the route is seen alright (e.g. 36 km length) as well as my position is correctly found. When I start my training it recalculates my route which is now 5457km or so to destination. When zooming out in map it seems there is some random point on a different continent added to the route. It aborts then the navigation as it is unable to recalculate the rout. Still Edge shows my correct location, and the planned route is shown on the map, just the navigation does no longer work.

This is really strange, I have no clue what triggered that funny behaviour, no idea to make it disappear. Any idea that could help me?

p.s. I use German UI and I have translated the terms myself. Things might be called not 100% identical in English UI of Garmin

  • Sounds like a bad or corrupted track point in your course file. You could try deleting the course in Komoot and the 830 and redoing it.  Is it only one gpx/fit file that this happens with or does it happen with others?

  • thanks. I had the problem every course I create since a week or so. I would have thought that it is a wider issue others came across and understand the root cause. Anyway, I yesterday did factory reset on my Edge 830 and today all worked fine again.

  • Good, and interesting, that a reset fixed it. The only times I've heard of something similar was when a file had a bad track point, so it wasn't the fault of the Edge.
