gmapsupp.img copied to garmin folder but available for use

Hi, I have a Garmin 830 purchased in Australia - I'm loading a bbike map extract of San Fran.

Ive extracted the map as Garmin Openfietsmap Full and added the gmapsupp.img to the "Garmin" folder on the 830. (also tried lite)
ejected the 830 and when going to view the avalble maps
setting> Activity Profiles > Road> Navigation> Map> Map Information

the newly added map is not listed - only the "World Wide DEM Basemap" and 3 versions of AU/NZ maps.......

Any advice - I've been on gamin chat support for an hour and they cant help........

    He's a tip - use the latin1 version and not the UTF-8 version.......... Seems somewhat weird as I'm sure i read somewhere that UFT was meant for "newer" devices....... anywho - latin1 and up and running
