Time of day

My Edge 830 somehow crashed and reboooted itself during my ascent at Mont Ventoux. I didn't notice that it had basically stopped recording when it restarted, so I'm missing half my ride. Obviously I'd love to know how I did on the climb. I've pretty much pinpointed the tima of day at which I reached the top. If the 830 also records time of day, then I could see at what time I crossed the start of the ascent. Does anyone know if this can be distilled from the recording? Other suggestions on how to determine what my time was, are welcome.

Thanks!

  • If you look at the log file of the ride every recorded point has a timestamp.  So yes you can see the time you were at a certain location during your ride.

You can use a fit file viewer to go through the log file or a tool to convert the data to Excel to go through the log.  You can to use Garmin's Basecamp software to view the recorded ride and you might be able to get the timestamps in there as well.

  • Awesome, I was hoping they would be recorded somewhere in the log file. Will definitely give this a go and report back. Unless I rode a lot slower than expected, in that case I'll just keep the dream alive ;-) Thank you!

  • Worked like a charm! Found the right coordinates and the matching timestamp. Not the time I was hoping for, although there's still some margin of error as to my exact arrival time at the top, but I think I've got a pretty good estimate...
