Syncing heart rate between Edge 830 Bundle sensor, Venu 2 Plus, and Garmin Connect

Hi folks!

I use Venu 2 Plus roughly 24/7 other than on bike rides.
For the bike rides, I use Edge 830 and its bundled heart rate sensor.

Sadly in Garmin Connect in my daily stats the heart rate chart is empty in the cycling periods.

How do I fix this? So far I could think of these options:

  1. Use Venu 2 Plus to track my cycling, which I really don't want because I prefer the Edge.
  2. Use Venu 2 Plus as a heart rate monitor; similar to above, I prefer the bundled one as it's more precise and more comfortable on rides.
  3. Connect the heart rate sensor to both Venu 2 Plus and Edge 830, which would require to wear the watch on rides; not ideal!

Ideally I'd just wear my watch, take it off for rides, and have Garmin Connect sync up the data. The heart rate is right there, visible in my ride stats, just not in my daily stats! :-(
Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks so much for helping!

  • Note that I have Physio TrueUp enabled on both devices.

  • This is a common topic in these forums.  Unfortunately, the only way to get this data is to wear your watch while cycling.  What I do is is record an activity on the watch while riding (pairing to the HR sensor) then delete the activity at the end rather than saving it.  Of course the activity on the edge is saved.  This gets you the data, but of course is a royal pain.  Why Garmin is unable to just use the data from the edge is beyond me.

  • Thank you for the response---much appreciated! Yes, I decided to simply wear the watch as well while cycling, until the day comes when Garmin Connect is able to fill out the data gaps in a straightforward manner.
