Inputting addresses to Edge 830

I have recently purchased a Edge 830 to use in Europe cycling. I want to input a number of addresses. To trial the process I have been trying unsuccessfully to enter my home address in Melbourne. Apart from the small key board it does not provide the options that I had for example with my retired Edge1000. For example It asks for Country, City, House Number then address. Part way through the address the device jumps to some unknown address starting with the same letters. Is there some way that addresses can be added from my mobile which is linked? Any other suggestions would be welcomed

Unfortunately, the Edge series has been excluded from Garmin Explore which allows waypoints to be sync'd to "outdoor" devices through a mobile app.  Besides PeterK_55's suggestion, you can also take a look at Garmin Basecamp to move waypoints on and off your Edge.  It's PC/Mac only so no mobile interface.

  • there is not a way to send addresses from a phone to the Edge but you should be able to search for the addresses on the device and then pin them as needed.

You mentioned the device jumps to an unknown address, can you explain this a bit more? Are you unable to locate any addresses on the Edge or only certain ones?

  • This is one of the biggest frustrations.

On a biketrip ... searching something on the smartphone, a landmark, shelter, food, water,  ... and getting it on the Edge to navigate.

From Apple maps or Google maps ... click share -> garmin

If Garmin would want to make a lot of people happy ...  A LOT of people....  this is one of the requests
