current town name

Hi all

Almost every  ride we do someone asks ... "Where are we? "

Search the interwebs and the edge menus but no solution found.

Is there a way, datafield  or a IQ app that just simple displays the current town name you are cycling through.

    Look at the map? (town/village names appear at various zoom levels so you need to experiment

     a bit, play with the controls in Menu>Settings>Activity Profile>{Profile Name]>Navigation>Map>Map Visibility>Map Visibility Mode>Custom and look at "Zoom Levels", Text Size" & "Detail" as these are supposed to control what gets displayed at various zoom levels, GPLAMA has done a video (youtube) about Map Detail . I would insert a screenshot of town names on the map but forum isn't letting me just now?

    Did that already. Zooming and panning is slow and frustrating.

    I just want a datafield with the town name i'm currently in.

    Map information isn’t available to data fields. Some info from the active navigation is.

    If you are riding a route/track you can add waypoints. If you approach they will shown on map and you should be able to show them in a list.
    If you are just riding - prepare your phone having any map app in front, pull it out and have a look.

     as other users have mentioned there isn't a data field that shows map information. Switching to your map screen and zooming out might be the best way for you to see this information.
