Trying to install purchased cycle map North America on Garmin Edge 830 - continued message 'Not enough space'

That article says that purchased maps are available to download again for one year. Do you know if that can be reinstalled at a future time if you save a copy of all those map files offline to be copied back when needed?

am not sure though i did saved (from the device) a copy of the EU maps i bought just in case i ever decide to install back the original US maps but not sur eif that will work or not. hope it does

Thanks everyone. I could only install the North American maps after removing all the map file excluding gmapbmap.img. That finally freed up enough space to install the North American maps. They work fine now! I hope it's gonna be easier to reinstall the European maps upon my return to Europe.

There are numerous sources for free maps. This avoids the issue of needing to buy updates or making-do with stale maps.

Also, if you need maps for a trip in another country, you don’t generally need the whole country (especially, for one as large as the US). Being able to download just what you need is faster and (should) avoid the running-out-of-space issue. And it makes it easier to distribute the map to other people you might be traveling with. 

The following is one source. It lets you pick a custom region. It might be a bit fussy but it’s easy after the first time. Make sure you pick  a “Latin” version.

I’m not sure why Garmin requires you to repurchase maps derived from a free sources that they provide free updates to owners of different models.
