Searching for address in Europe for navigation

I bought this Garmin 830 in the US awhile back. But I'm in Zurich now,

I'd like to be able to search for an Address to use the 830 for navigation, but I can't seem to figure out how.

I added the maps for Switzerland, so those are on there now. But when I go to Navigation >> Search >> Address, or Navigation >> Search >> Intersections the next prompt is for the State or Province. I searched Zurich and Switzerland, but neither one works!

Another issue is how do I update the MTB trail Networks to show the local trails?

The address search uses specific database file, not the maps itself. I suspect that database file is region specific just like the maps that come with the unit. As you are not in the region the unit was bought in the address database doesn't cover your location.

Ok, so how can I fix that?

I bought the Garmin Maps for Europe, but Express says there isn't space.

How can I clear out excess maps/data to get the Garmin Europe maps to work?

Remove the map files for NA and then you will have space for the EU map files.

Garmin express said explicitly NOT to removed the default maps.

But for anyone that comes across this, I spoke with Garmin support and you can removed all the .UNL, .GMA, and .IMG files EXCEPT the gmapbmap.img file.

Then there should be space

i also have a US unit and moved to EU and bought the EU Garmin maps.

Just follow this Garmin article and you can get the EU maps there (at sacrifice of the US maps, but you can always revert in G. Express)

As for the address search i haven't tested so not sure if an issue or not
