Having to cancel incident from both Edge and phone

I was riding yesterday and got two false incident alarms. I promptly cancelled them from my Edge but the countdown kept going on my phone (which was unreachable) until the distress message was sent to my emergency contacts.  I was sure that cancelling on the Edge device should have been enough, but it doesn’t seem to work that way.  Is this a bug in 9.40?

  • I had this today also - really annoying having to get the phone out of my pocket after I've cancelled it on the 830 screen. The sensitivity of the crash incident is also totally overboard - all I'd done was brake slowly whilst approaching a junction and it goes off

  • I experience this quite often as I keep my phone in my rucksack accessing it would mean stopping and removing my rucksack to reach phone.

As I've stated elsewhere before the incident detection is over sensitive and should use a little more common sense. Eg if after a suspected incident the bicycle starts to travel at a speed and the wheel/cadence sensors are also indicating the bike is being ridden normally then it would be safe to assume a false alarm and cancel automatically. Obviously this option could be configurable for those that are happy not to automatically cancel.

  • After several false alarms alarming my wife I disabled it. Live track with auto-start works well for us.
