I factory reset my 830 about 4 weeks ago - as I was getting fed up with it refusing to sync rides, at various points I'd had to connect it via usb to a PC.
The history of rides had stopped updating so I couldn't actually see them on the device either - although connecting via usb they could be seen as individual files.
Since the hard reset it's updated (I believe) to both 9.30 and then 9.40.......I can say it does now sync my rides to strava however:
- Sensor connection and disconnection seems to be totally random, 10 minutes into a ride I'm getting pop ups to say things have connected or disconnected.
- On turning on the device the other day with no sensors running it claimed to have connected to a garmin HRM
- Navigation prompts are more random than ever (i even had one the other day that showed an arrow along a straight road when there wasn't even a curve in it, or a turning of any description). To be honest it's always been dreadful at knowing primary roads vs secondary - although I believe a fix was attempted on this at some point, but not very successfully
- Perhaps worst of all riding a route just seems to suddenly fail now, I'd been out for about 3 miles the other day on a 30 mile route and all of a sudden "Distance to next", "Ascent remaining" and "Distance to destination" all started showing as blank even though they had previously been populated. Which caused me to wonder if the ride was still recording, which it was, but with zero naviation apparent I restarted the route and recording (plus turned on komoot navigation on my mobile)
- I'm fairly certain the Climb-pro also didn't trigger correctly on this last ride either (and to be honest over the last few months, it's generally been 'so far behind the ascent' it's been of little use anyway.
I've read quite a few of the comments on this forum and aside from the above I'm alarmed by the lack of Garmin responses to things that have been raised.
I'm not quite sure what's going on with the software development/enhancement process, but there seem to be some significant regression defects. I'm all for improving the head units, but absolutely not at the cost of vital existing functioning features!!
