830 paired with Vario RTL510 and Bontrager Ioa/Flare in the front

Hi.
I've got an 830
I've heard great things on the RTL510 on the rear,  its on my "to get list"

When considering a light on the front,  I've read positive and negatives on the Bontrager Ion Pro RT  the vario front light.
I've read the light itself is  wider/brighter up close on the Ion Pro.   But read that mixing garmin+bontrager on the 830 has issues.

from safety perspective which is better?

from convenience which is better?

hoping for some useful advice from people that maybe tried both and have some solid feedback on which combination is better. Thanks!

    Hi!
    I use ION RT on the front. 
    Got Edge 830 some time ago, and realised just 2 days ago that I can connect those two together. 
    The stock/Trek widget is terrible to use. It takes about 15 screen touches (clicks) on to change the light mode. 
    I've checked out another widget "Bike Lights Control" by maca88, and it is all in one widget screen. I see both ION and FLARE and can select any mode with a single screen touch. 
    And got the FLARE RT just yesterday :) 
    The only issue I've had with them is that they sometimes do not re-connect with the Edge after turning Edge back on, well waking up from sleep in fact. Turning the Edge completely OFF and then ON seemed to solve the issue.
