830 not recording to start of a route.

Im frequently using my 830 with planned routes starting some distance away from home (meeting point in my gravel BC club). After loading my route at home, my 830 says "navigate to start of route" which works smoothly, but does not record the stretch neither for Garmin nor Strava. Alternatively I can just hit record and then at the meeting point start my route, meaning I will end up with two independent records/tracks. My preferred option is therefore manually to edit the route to start at home before loading it into my 830.

Is it not possible for the 830 to record the whole route as one. It works fine at the end of a route (from where it finish to home)

  • You must not be hitting the record button when choosing to navigate to the start point.

Navigation is completely independent of recording.  You can start recording and start and stop any navigation as much as you like without affecting the ride recording.  Ride recording will only stop when you press the record button again.

  • I think you should read the manual.
You need to push the start button at home. It will record it as one activity as long as you do not stop it with the button and save it.
It doesn’t matter how many routes you load and ride as long as the tracking is running.

    One way:

at home, per on the edge. Then tap navigation, open the route you want to ride. It now asks you wich profile to use, choose one (for example mountain bike or road bike). As soon as you are ready, start pedaling and push the start/stop button. If you r route stats not at home but at a meeting point, it will ask you to navigate you there wich you can accept or decline.
when you accept it will give you information how long and far away the meeting point is. When you get the, it will sich the navigation to the grip e ride but the recording will resume. After the end of the group ride, it will tell you you „won“ (don’t know if this only happens when you finish in front of virtual Partner) and that you completed the route. You can now start a new navigation, either home, another address, the beginning of the track, wherever you want. Still, all numbers are adding up on one single track. As soon as you are at your final destination, push start/stop again and sage the activity.

it’s the same button you can use mid ride to make it pause, but don’t safe if you want to resume single file later. If Pause, you can even switch if the edge e we geb you want to eat something or visit an attraction.
