Exclude activities from VO2max estimation

Hello,

Is it possible to exclude some activities or profiles from the VO2 estimation?

For example, exclude "Mountain bike" activities.

Some watches (like Fenix 6) have this option in running profiles, very useful to exclude trail-running from VO2 estimaations. Otherwise, rides in muddy or snowy terrain polute completely this estimation.

Thanks!

  • Why should it mess? I thought VO2Max is based on power when cycling. And power is power, no matter the terrain. If you disable the powermeter for rides you don’t want to get used, it should not take them into consideration

  • Thanks.

Yes, you are right. Power is power, and should not mess, no matter the terrain.

Sorry; wIth terrain i was thinking of running, where VO2 is estimated by heart rate and speed (no power information), and then terrain matters a lot in the estimation. Thus it is a good idea to exclude trail running unless you trail in very easy terrain.

In cycling terrain does not matter, but in my case, I experience lower VO2 estimation  in mountains. Be it because of different powermeter, be it my way of cycling in mountains... it varies consistently up and down 3-4 points (higher VO2 in road).

If I switched off powermeter in the mountain bike, the result of VO2 is then estimated by heart rate and speed, and results is also lower than road.

No major issue. If perhaps there is an easy way to exclude some activities, would be convinient.
