Can't load GPX files onto my Edge 830

Have you reached the 100 course limit in the Garmin\Courses folder?

Why should there be a limit? On my old Edge 800 I had almost 300 GPX files in the "Courses" folder without any problems. There is nothing in the Edge 830 user manual about a limit of 100 files in the Courses folder. When I try to transfer more courses via BaseCamp, I get no error message. However, there are now exactly 100 files in the "Courses" folder...

The 800 allowed you to use a second SD card. 

I don't need a second SD Card, there are some GB of free space on my 830. That can't be the reason for not being able to save more tracks on the device.

No, I’m just saying maybe they put the limit there when they removed the SD card.  

That said, with my 800 if I kept more than a dozen or so routes it would get buggy.  Also difficult to search through for the one I wanted to load.  So I kept them on RideWithGPS and downloaded them as needed.  Now you can just pin them on RWG and they show up on ConnectIQ on the device  

I know my use case may be different than yours. To get an answer to your actual question ask Garmin.  Ask them as well why they don’t document these things.

I have tested it, the limit is 100 courses. It is really annoying that this not documented in the manual. For me, it is definitely a huge step backwards. I have contacted Garmin support about the problem and I am interested in the official response.

I created a file folder on the 830 named "Courses saved". I keep courses there that I may want to use in the future or are in an area I occasionally travel to. It is easy to move them back and forth from the courses file folder with a pc or Chromebook. The are not visible to the Garmin UI. They are handy but don't clutter up the list when I don't need them.
