After update to 9.10 device freezes on startup!

So today i updated my Edge 830 to a new FW 9.10 as suggested by Garmin express. After update was done device did a restart and after rebooting stuck at last screen with Garmin logo in the middle, and underneath there is a list of maps installed on device. I think its the last screen before loading the menu. I tried a few times reset by holding power button for 10 seconds, it goes off and starts again, but loads up only to the same position and freezes there again. Sometimes light remains on, sometimes off. Garmin is just 3 months old, and i made only few rides with it! Any ideas?

  • Can you connect your Edge 830 to your PC? Recognise your PC the Edge 830? You can try to downgrade to 8.20.

Download the 9.10 Beta. It includes the 8.20

Open the Zip File and copy the GUPDATE_820.GCD to your Garmin Folder on your Edge 830.

When the Edge 830 starts it should suggest you the Firmware 8.20.

When you downgrade to 8.20 it is the same as a reset. Maybe it helps.

  • Thanks for your advice, i tried it allready yesterday but my pc just couldn recognize Garmin as storage device so i wasnt able to access it at all. But after i tried reset a few more times, Garmin loaded up completly out of a sudden. I didnt want to try if everything works and risk freezing it again during weekend, so i just turned it off. I will test it in next few days, and let u all know how it went...

  • So i did a short test today, 25km, without a single problem. Garmin starts up normally, and works like a charm. I`ll remain at 9.10, hope there will be no more problems... Downgrading to 8.20 is always a spare solution.
