Bugs in 9.10

I just upgrade my Edge 830 in 9.10 this morning.

I had many problems.

- After 5km, the arrow on the trace disappear, and I have to reload the trace every 5 kms (aprox)

- The function go back to start was not working anymore.

Is it possible to rollback ?

It's no bug but is it planned to make the Virtual Partner deactivatable? Version 9.10 is unfortunately still not able to do it.

Let me know if it helps with at rollback. And do anyone know if I can rollback to 8.20. After 9.10, my unit freezes the screen. It is still tracking, but the screen has become crazy and unstable when riding…

1: Manually downgrade back to 8.20, the previous beta zip contains the 8.20 firmware file
2: Create a short file in notepad with a few character and save it as GUPDATE.GCD
3: copy this dummy file to Edge…

In the betas ZIP files are the last final firmwares too. In this case it includes 8.20. So you can downgrade to 8.20. But all settings, widgets and apps will be lost. It is the same as a reset.

Let me know if it helps with at rollback. And do anyone know if I can rollback to 8.20. After 9.10, my unit freezes the screen. It is still tracking, but the screen has become crazy and unstable when riding. Why is it not possible to switch off firmware updates? I bought a unit. It worked. And then Garmin makes new changes and the units always gets slow or unstable.

Don't mess with the unit I bought and paid for, unless I decide to take the chance with at new firmware version myself. It should not be allowed to force you to update. I bought a device, not a subscription plan.... Please let me opt out Garmin!!!

a DIY solution: You can make a dummy update file in Edge folder and it will stop the auto-update.

Due to this dummy update file, the auto-update wont be processed in the future.

I am actually in 8.10 (downgraded from 8.20),... and keep getting the auto-update message continuously... this will help for sure. Many thanks.

This has been a problem since my Edge 705 over 12 years ago. They won't change it.

While it usually isn't a huge problem it sometimes causes extra confusion or noise when navigating complex roads in cities. It is dangerous not to be able to just turn it off. But Garmin doesn't care.
