Volume tone alert not loud enough edge 830

This is my first garmin edge 830. I notice there are no beeps (tone alerts) sound on the device, I tried to turn off & back on tone setting, I even try to change the sensor setting from single tone to multi tone, but I can not hear anything even in my room are dead quiet, until I put the device right next to my ear and I can barely hear it beeps, so what is the purpose of having the tone if I can’t even hear it beeps? I rely on my radar sensor to notify me when car is approaching from behind, without the tone, it basically unless. Does anyone have this same issue? Any advice. Thanks in advance.

I guess this is a hardware failure with a defect buzzer. Afaik there has never been a software feature modifying the volume of the buzzer.

If you have a I Phone download the Varia App on it. The Varia app gives you vey loud radar beeps even in the wind.

830 beeps not very loud.

This led to my discovering that my RTL is old enough to be the earlier version, 510 without Bluetooth. :-( It pairs with my Vivoactive 3 watch but sadly no useful vibration.

This kind of defeats, the purpose of having the Varia connected to your 830. Also, the Varia app drains your iPhone battery fairly quickly. We can all just use our iPhone as a cycling computer. There’s plenty of apps for that, then what’s the point of owning an 830?
