Navigations and destination changes mid ride

I seen many limitations to modify a route mid ride which is a big limitation imo but I can understand its not so simple the way the software is designed.  However when you are out on a ride, not on any route and want navigation directions to somewhere specific I cant seem to be able to do it.

More precisely you can but only of you Stop the current ride 1st otherwise you cant get the navigation screens options. You can decide to load a pre registered course but no basic navigation choices.  Did I miss something?  I end up getting 3 activities instead of 1 due to stopping and starting new / deviations etc and then all my ride stats are useless.

Is there a better way without having to stop the ride Im on each time I want to go somewhere specific?

  • You don't have to stop the ride to change routes you are navigating or start navigating if you aren't currently sing that function.

If you are currently navigating somewhere and you want to change the route first you need to stop the current navigation.  Now you aren't using navigation.  You go to the home screen (tap somewhere in the middle of one of your screens used while riding so the screen is shaded and you see the house icon, tap that house icon), tap the navigation button in the bottom left, and then select the course/destination point/etc. and start the navigation.  That's it.  No need to stop the current recording.

Recording a ride and navigation are separate functions.  They can stopped/started independently of each other.

  • Hi, Thanks for the reply and hints. Didn't realise you needed to tap on a data screen. Seems to work fine and will give it a real go next ride.

Not just a data screen. You can tap twice on the map screen (the first tap shows the map controls; the second tap shows the home button, etc).

You can also terminate the current navigation by pressing the small red stop sign at the lower left.

If don't have an active course, you can get the navigation menu by tapping on the text at the top of the map.
