Issues/Doubts about track navigation and navigation data fields

Hi,

I have a Fenix 3 for trailrunning and an Edge 830 for cycling. Using my F3 I had no problems understanding the data showed in the navigation screen, but with the Edge thinks are a little bit weird.

With the F3 if I load a course from Garmin Connect, the information showed in the track itself (distance, ...) and the information showed in the nav fields (ETA, Distance to Destination) are re-calculated on the way depending on the speed.

But with the Edge 830, if I follow the same process, the distance showed in the track info and Distance to Destination are totally different. I mean that while the track is 10km long, the DtD field shows 8,7km and it is not recalculated in real time. Yesterday I loaded and followed a track of 40K and DtD always showed about 38K, sometimes a little bit more, sometimes a little bit less.

I am afraid that it is due to the different maps installed in my Garmin (Africa OSM with local edition) and the map that Garmin Connect uses.

Can anyone help me to understand what's happening?

Each track point in the file includes the distance. The distance-to-destination is calculated as the point-distance subtracted from the total distance. If you are not on the track (if you are off course), the Edges stop the calculation. The distance-to-destination doesn't depend on the speed. It doesn't depend on the map either.
