HRM-DUAL not not showing the HR

Hi,

I would be really appreciated if you can help me …

I got a Garmin Full Bundle Edge 830 around months ago … everything was working fully fine … after my 30th ride my HRM-Dual started showing “_ _ _” and sometimes HR in between. It was okay for the first 55 min or so but then started showing “_ _ _ “

It paired fine as always and connected straight away … but after a while it started showing “_ _ _”

Ride by ride, the time it worked fine was reduced. … It worked fine for the first 40 min …then 20 min …. Then just the first 5 min … and now from the first min of riding …!!!

  • I changed the battery …didn’t work
  • I updated my edge to Ver. 8.3… didn’t work…
  • Reset the EDGE…didn’t work
  • I always wash the strap with cold water after each ride and after around 7-8 rides with soap and water
  • I did everything in this link from the very first day … and take care of it very well …

  • I used EKG medical gel instead of water… didn’t work
  • I did anything in this link …didn’t work out …

The last time I used it.. It paired so quick like always but at the first moment it showed “_ _ _”.

Every 20-30 min it shows me a single reading and then quickly goes back to showing” _ _ _”

I’ve attached some image of the strap itself and the module and HR graphs.

 Thanks…

  • Are you sure the battery is not the problem? Not the first time that I changed batteries while the battery was already drained! Are you using Duracell batteries with the new coating? Sometimes the coating gives problems in certain devices.

  • I would recommend taking the battery back out, and leaving it out for an extended period of time of at least 30 minutes. You can also try removing the battery, placing it in backwards for a few seconds, then placing it normally again.

This a form of a "reset" that has helped restore HR sensors in the past after replacing the batteries.

  • Are you by any chance losing the readings after a pause?  I started having this issue with the last firmware update.

  • keen to see if you get a  fix,

same happened to mine in the past week or so, contact pads on the strap started peeling off, so i bought a brand new strap , with new batteries, no Bueno..

really would like to have it sorted sooner rather than later

  • Thanks mate ... I don't think the battery is the problem as the problem started with the first battery then I changed it with a new one but the problem has not been solved ... however I checked the first battery with a special device which said just 50% of the battery has been used!!! here is the batteries I used ... first Panasonic  ....second Maxwell

    The first battery

and Then I changed it with a new one

  • Appreciate ... I'll do it and let you know if this work out ....

  • no , not necessarily ... during the ride I'm losing the readings ... not just after a pause ... and I got this error even on Ver, 7.1 before updating to 8.30 ...

  • Mine is okay  ... not worn out yet as you can see on the picture .... I'll do whatever @Garmin-Blake said then let you know if it works ... ...     I wonder why it should be like this after just around 6 month!!!!    I hope I can find a fix ...otherwise I'm not gonna buy Garmin ....

    • Are You using it via ANT+ or BT? You can check it in the sensor's details, only use it via ANT+ and remove the BT one (if the HRDual is in the sensor list in 2 rows). And check your mobile's BT menu and remove the HRDual from there too, do not pair there. Try to reser the sensor with a metal as Garmin-Blake wrote (insert a metal to the 2 small pins below the battery or put the battery upside down and hold these there till 10-20secs and after put the battery back as normal and try again the measurements)
