EDGE830: Elevation drift and inaccuracy

Hi there, I am having a problem with my edge 830 device. The elevation is drifting almost randomly. If I set the elevation to say 800mt, even without moving the altimeter starts to drift and current elevation goes to 750mt, then progressively to 600mt (even without moving from the point of calibration). Moreover, when I use it on my bicycle, it tells me totally inaccurate gradients, like it says I am on a +15% gradient climb while I am actually on a perfectly flat road. Clearly this mess causes totally inaccurate calculations for the positive and negative elevation gains (basically, it is useless). I tried to reset the device to default setting but the problem persists. I have software version 8.20. What should I do?

Me too, same problem....Edge 830 device - 2 months old, upgrade up to 8.20.

I set the elevation but change costantly. The only way for understand the quote of my trip is activate in Garmin connect the correction, but the device is inaccuracy

Same here, the previous FW was the only one with correct altitude values (!).
The one before the previous had the same problem as 8.20 now :(

So what do you suggest? Should we downgrade the software? If so, to which version? Or maybe a new version is coming out soon ...

I'm looking right now to find where to download 8.10.
For me it was the only 8.xx version without altitude problems.
Still, in my experience, no problems with altitude values with <8.00 versions.
I was even thinking the sensor was broken, but it worked perfectly fine during the months when 8.10 was installed.

I wonder if they even test the software before releasing ... this is such a huge bug which makes the 830 useless for training ...

yes it's quite annoying to relay on GPS altitude post ride correction (in Garmin Connect, Strava or, if available, in other software programs).
It seems hard to find official FW to downgrade, in the past there has been unofficial sources for this.

unluckily the repository "unofficial source" is unavailable now due to server problems http://gawisp.com/perry/edge
And again no luck also using https://web.archive.org (last FW are quite old)
