Edge 830 Issue with erratic, overly high then low HR

Hello, Edge 830 is not recording the HR metrics correctly. Initially it tell me I am over 200+ HR then it stays between 122 - 125 regardless my effort. I am using the Wahoo Tickr X monitor. I confirmed the HR monitor is working as expected with my indoor bike, which I use the same monitor for it. All points out to the last device update.

I have tried the following steps:

Connect Garmin > Open File explorer > open the Garmin folder, and clear the contents of the following folders:

activity
courses
workouts
newfiles
remotesw

Then perform a full reset, reconfigure the device sensors from scratch. Nothing seems to fix it.

Please Advice

PS

I bought the Edge 830 back in April and I loved it at the beginning, now this is my second replacement unit, the first one had to be replace because got damage after an device upgrade. I feel the Edge 830 is a great device, it only needs to works and not break every time it upgrades. Riding is fun, troubleshooting is not.

  • Have you compared the output of your HRM on the 830 and other device at the same time?  Have you measured your heart rate manually while your HRM is connected to the 830 and compared results?

  • First check the battery voltage of the monitor, or replace it anyway.

If the montor has the battery status service then you can check it with a free Android app of  Nordic Semiconductor. Requires some technical knowledge.

  • I ran the test you suggested. It seems that the HR monitor was overall higher than my Garmin HR watch and manual measurement, which made me believe the Ticker was bad. But when using the Ticker not connected to the Edge 830 it is reporting the correct HR. So there is something weird going on when I connect the Ticker to the Edge. I was able to get one of my old Garmin HR monitors attached to my Edge via Ant+ and it seems to be reporting the correct HR metric so I am using that as workaround. Probably belonging to a different thread but in my last ride all sensor went offline for a brief moment and the GPS turn by turn alerts start sending me in the wrong streets, gladly I know the route enough to be able to continue without the GPS.

  • As part of my initial troubleshooting I followed the recommendations Wahoo offer here support.wahoofitness.com/.../115000359464-I-m-Having-Trouble-with-My-TICKR-What-Can-I-Do-
