Continuous dropouts after 8.20 upgrade

Edge wanted to update before today's indoor turbo ride, so I let it. Had constant dropouts from mainly my Powertap P2 pedals, but all sensors kept dropping out and being found again. Restarted the edge twice. Finally switched to Neo 2T as power source and things were better, but not good.

What is going on?

  • 10 minutes into today's ride... DI2 reconnect RageDizzy face

I think I completely missed your point. Are you suggesting the problem doesn't exist or are you glad you're not affected?

  • Whatever the issue is it isn't a universal one.  If there was something wrong with the firmware you would think it would affect all units.  As it doesn't it will probably make it harder to fix.

  • Been having issues with dropouts for a while now, but this 8.2 is the worst. During my ride yesterday everything kept reconnecting. I cut the ride short, went back to the car and did a reset and re-connected everything, and it seemed to be fine. This morning when I turned it on noting was found. I did another reset, reconnected everything, but the second something fell asleep, it wasn't found again.

I was thinking about upgrading to the 1030 Plus but I see it is having the same issues.

Is there any way to reset this back to the out of the box software?

As a side note, I have no issues connecting any of my sensors to my 910XT or 310XT watches. Old school but they still work, unlike the 830.

  • I have been having the same issues since the update.  Its starting to drive me nuts, constant reconnects and the beep tone everytime it happens.   Anyone file a support case?

  • Anyone file a support case?

This is an open ticket internally. Are you okay with me sending you instructions on how to send me a zipped copy of your Garmin folder to add to this?

  • I am in communication with Eiliko.

I activated ANT tracking, and will do a couple of rides.

Then I’ll have a case opened.

  • Same, I just opened a case and they told me they need ant+ logging enabled.   Anyone else with the issue please also do the same and upload your logs to support.

    - Start an activity on your Edge

    - Tap the screen. This will open a grey overlay page

    - Press and hold the right arrow at the bottom of the overlay page for 5 seconds

    - Select Diagnostics > ANT Logging > ANT RX TX

    - ANT Logging is now enabled and ready for the next ride

  • Any news? My 830 is basically useless now as it is so unreliable. It may work, it may be complete rubbish. I'm using the Tacx app now to record my workouts.
