Rerouting issue when following a route

Yesterday I was following a route. I accidentally went past the turning (point A). The computer recalculated a new route which I followed and eventually it joined onto the original route (point B). So far so good. It then directed backwards along the route to point A instead of going forwards along route from point B. Having rejoined the route I of course wanted to continue along it not backtrack.
Another weird thing is I was only about 100 yards from point A when it recalculated route. The new route to Point B was probably a mile longer!

On other occasions it tells me to turn around (ie return to point A) even though the quickest way to rejoin the route is to continue to point B.

is there any logic here? Are there rerouting settings I can adjust? Or am I better off turning off rerouting?

  • After my 6 months experience with my Edge 830 I finally could identify and reproduce this recalculate issue yesterday.   There seem to be many discussions ongoing on this subject on this forum.   I disabled this feature that is creating more confusion than aid.  I can't understand why Garmin doesn't fix this.

  • Garmin have fixed it but unfortunately it is only fixed in the 1030+ and newer units. The fix has never been applied to any other unit and Garmin has never said that it would be.

  • Thanks,!

Anyhow, I've opened a new subject on this in this 830 forum.

Not sure if this would raise the priority of the Garmin development team for this need
