Garmin Edge Activity Profile Sensor Settings

Is it just me that would like Activity Profiles to select sensors specifically?

I have indoor/gravel/road profiles set up and each ride uses different sensors (lights for outdoor, different power meters between road and gravel, Di2 on a couple of profiles but not gravel etc). I would REALLY like the sensors to be settable in the profiles so that when I select "road" for instance, only the sensors I want on for that are selected; same for Gravel.

This feels like it should be a fairly easy fix.

Anyone else want this feature?

I'm sure I'm burning battery when it's trying to connect to a sensor not present and enabling/disabling them is a pain.

I dont‘t see any use in this feature. Sensors are discovered automatically.

They are if they are on but my point is that if I leave sensors enabled then the Edge searching for them is using more power than if they were disabled or even there and connected. Having unconnected but enabled sensors must be costing me battery life.

According to Aweatherall who posts in this forum and is very knowledgeable about Garmin products:

"The search for sensors only runs for about 2 minutes after the timer has started. It then stops so the battery drain is minimal"

That's interesting. I'll have to try this out and see whether they are discovered if I power them up after a 2 minute search. Thanks for the data point.

I think whether we like it or not, Garmin have decided to implement sensor pools across their whole product line instead of linking specific sensors to bike or activity profiles. It is what it is.

And to cheracogoff, it's shouldn't take more that 30 seconds of Googling to work out who aweatherall is and why he's probably correct (and such a welcome asset to these forums)
